Migrate from SliceWP to Asteris Affiliates
Switching from SliceWP to Asteris Affiliates takes about 15 minutes and preserves your affiliates, commissions, and payout history. Both plugins run self-hosted, so the migration is purely a data transfer.
Step-by-step migration
- 01
Export from SliceWP
In WordPress admin, open SliceWP → Affiliates and export affiliates and commissions to CSV.
- 02
Install Asteris Affiliates
Install and activate Asteris Affiliates, then run the 4-step onboarding wizard.
- 03
Map and import
Use the importer to map SliceWP fields to Asteris Affiliates. Affiliates, referral history and balances are preserved.
- 04
Reconcile and pay out
Confirm balances against SliceWP, set commission rates, then run the first payout via PayPal or bank transfer.
Watch out for
- SliceWP Pro's coupon-tracking is handled by Asteris Affiliates' built-in coupon attribution — re-link coupons to affiliates after import.
- If you used SliceWP add-ons (e.g. recurring commissions), the recurring schedule needs to be re-set in Asteris Affiliates Pro.
What the SliceWP-to-Asteris migration actually does
SliceWP stores affiliate data in standard WordPress tables and exports it as a clean CSV — which makes this one of the easiest migrations in the WordPress affiliate ecosystem. The WP-CLI command wp asteris-aff import --source=slicewp --csv=/path/to/slicewp-export.csv reads the CSV and maps it to Asteris's tables. Specifically:
- Affiliates: WP user ID (preserved as the same WP user → same Asteris affiliate ID), email, name, payout-method preference, default commission rate, status (active / pending / rejected), date of registration. All preserved.
- Commissions (called "referrals" in SliceWP): affiliate ID, related order ID, amount, currency, status (pending / paid / refunded), date. Status maps directly to Asteris's pending / unpaid / paid / rejected states.
- Coupon attributions: SliceWP Pro tracks coupons-as-affiliate-links. Asteris re-creates the coupon → affiliate mapping after import — verify each coupon code links to the correct affiliate in Settings → Coupons.
- Visit history: SliceWP doesn't expose visit-level data via its standard export, so visit history isn't preserved row-by-row. Aggregate visit counts per affiliate are estimated from referral history.
The recommended sequence
- Install Asteris alongside SliceWP — they don't conflict.
- Export from SliceWP via Affiliates → Tools → Export.
- Import to Asteris via WP-CLI:
wp asteris-aff import --source=slicewp --csv=.... - Spot-check 5–10 affiliates in Asteris admin — balances should match SliceWP exactly.
- Switch tracking: deactivate SliceWP's tracking (Settings → Tracking → Disabled), leaving the plugin installed for 30 days.
- Email affiliates their new dashboard URL. Asteris's vanity URLs are
/go/{handle}— encourage affiliates to update their links, but existing SliceWP-style links keep working via the compatibility redirect. - After 30 days clean, deactivate and delete SliceWP, drop its tables.
What you gain on day one
The features Asteris ships that SliceWP doesn't, available immediately after import: two-tier (MLM) referrals (how it works), AI swipe-copy generator (how it works), Stripe Connect Express direct payouts (how it works), PayPal Payouts API batch payouts (how it works), EDD + Surecart adapters (EDD, Surecart), cloud-assist fraud detection (how it works), A/B email testing (how it works).
